So I sit here trying this out and seeing if this works. I thought what a cool idea to post an online journal for family, friends, and gawkers! I have to admit, a good friend of mine sort of was an inspiration for this...Kory, thanks bitch!
Christmas is upon us yet again and yet again my loved ones and I have done the whole "don't get me anything" arrangement while stll buying inexpensive gifts for each other. I have to say that I am so greatful and blessed to have a home, a car, food, clothing, and a wonderful family, but I sure cannot wait till I am able to splurge on my family and friends. As it stands, "when I make it" (if I EVER DO!) everyone is getting some sort of car or house from me, so I'm already broke in theory. I kid, but seriously, this past weekend was AMAZING! I didn't have to work which was very much needed, and I spent saturday with my wife and family, then got to spend some time with our good friend Elizabeth, and then we shut Border's down! Sunday was the best though...I do however feel guilty about not going to Church.
I woke up ready to go, but my Mom and Dad arguing just put such a sour taste in my mouth that I decided on some Bobby time. I thought to myself, I'm going to reflect and think, pray, and just spend some much needed personal time thinking about some things in my life. That idea was fine all but didn't come to fruition seeing as I RE-discovered my PSP and played DISNEY'S CARS and THE SIMPSONS! I had so much fun brainlessly vegging out to video games LOL!
Kat left me for church and returned to find me still in the same spot in our bed. She then persuaded me to get dressed and showered so we could explore for the day. I'm not saying I have powers or anything, but I read her thought...ala Edward in Twilight...I read she wanted to go spend the money her Mom sent us for Christmas by going to by UGGS in Denver! Alas, I was right, and we were on our way to Denver. The drive was beautiful, peaceful, and it felt nice to be with the one I love the most in the life. We arrived to the Cherry Creek Mall region of Denver and to a madhouse of Lexus', Beemers, and overpriced SUVs. We luckily found a parking spot not all the way in East Bumble-F*&@, and proceeded to go into Macy's. We walked around and I heard several "wanna go into_____" that was Kat trying to appease me on our shopping venture and get me to buy somthing so she could feel good about spending the serious dough we had on some UGGS. So we went into Urban outfitters, which tends to be my favorite store in the mall. Once you get past the bitchy sales associate queens and blasphemous Jesus swag, they actually have funny odds and end items you can't really find anywhere. The humor is crude and not typical, which is me 100%. So I found yet another Tee to add to my vast collection of pointless witty humorous graphic tees and we were on our way to Nordstrom's for Kat religous retail experience.
Our sales girl look very uninterested and mundane to help us, but she did, and did her job in an average fashion. I had compassion as I already felt guilt about not going to church AND I was out shopping on the Sabbath day:(...a Mormon "no-no." Ah well, It felt nice to be in Denver, taking in the culture, lights, and the retail feeling of Christmas. We then headed down to Mongo's (BDs) for Kat birthday bowl dinner. Initially when I went there the first time about 2 yrs ago, I couldnt get enough, and I was convinced that they cooked in Crack to get customers addicted. BDs is a Stri fry, create your own style of place, just off of 16th Street and Wazee (really close to Union Station). It was great, we walked right in to no waiting, and we were sat immediately. Our waiter took our drink order and we were off to the buffet of fresh meats, veggies and sauces and spices. Our cooks were pretty bored as there this wasn't there peak time, and I watched ammused the the enormous circle grill in front of me. It made me so hot, and I had pity on the cooks. I however was amused by the variety of shirts the staff wore. My cook wore a shirt that read "Natural Born Griller" and another one I liked read "Wovelrines taste like chicken." So we sat down to out high top table after watching our food get smacked and diced with gigantic skinny steel spatulas and enjoyed our food. I was convinced that my bowl of stir fry somehow had gotten a piece of sea food and it sorta turned me off to BDs, but it was good.
Kat and I then Split a peanut butter cup cake thingy that was so rich we were both over it after a few bites. We payed the check then left. Then we spent 45 minutes braving the bitter city air and walked aroun the 16th street outdoor mall. We went to Virgin Records (my favorite store there) and just putzed around. Then we were off back to the springs, but somehow Kat convinced me to detour to park meadows mall on the way home. We had an hour left till they closed, so we went and window shopped. We made it home around 9:30 and spent a bit with my surprisingly awake 1 yr old nephew Brody, and watched some TV, and off to bed.
Overall, it was a great relaxing weekend. I felt relaxed, greatful, and blessed. It was nice to have spent some time out of our lives spending money, like we weren't strapped and that we had it burn. Well, back to reality, but thats not bad at all!
